Adderall® is a popular drug used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is also often used as a performance enhancer. Adderall® belongs to the amphetamine class and is it may lead to an increased risk of preterm birth as well as low birth weight.
If you take it while pregnant, your newborn may experience some withdrawal symptoms when born and will most likely need to be watched in the neonatal intensive care unit. Behavioral problems may also occur later in childhood. It is a good idea to stop taking it while pregnant. Do talk to your medical care provider about how to wean yourself off it and find another alternative.
